- Toppings: Get the topping ingredients together and beat on a low speed until blended and crumbly
- Cake batter: Mix all the dry ingredients together first: 1 1/2 cup flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 3/4 cup sugar
- Cake batter: Now add and mix: 1/4 cup soft butter, 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla
- Beat cake batter on low speed only until well blended.
- Butter a 8-9 inch baking pan. And preheat the oven to 365^F
- Spread half of the batter in the pan.
- Spread half the toppings mix on top of the batter.
- Now add the other half of the batter.
- Finally spread the rest of the toppings on top.
- Bake at 365F for 30 mins. Check the center to make sure it's done, but it can dry out quickly so be careful.
- I've added icing before, but prefer to sit down with a cup of coffe and some butter on a slice 😍
